Challenges 2022-23

Fitness@happiness

Sports do not just build character, they reveal it.

Over the course of the academic year, we thankfully saw a return to complete normality and the plethora of extra-curricular opportunities that we offer as a school. Our Sports Day is one of the enthralling events of our Calendar. This year was particularly special as it marked the first time since 2018 that we have been able to run this event and we were simply thrilled to welcome parents on to site to cheer along with us!

Children develop physical literacy from the young age only by learning a wide variety of fundamental movement skills. Without physical literacy, individuals are less likely to stay active for life. Sports instil values, develop social skills and build self-esteem along with confidence. It gives them a chance to demonstrate leadership quality, coordination and teamwork.

Joeys hosted its annual sports meet on 28th & 29th January “Fitness@happiness”, a day filled with fervour and excitement experienced amidst thrills, shrills and cheers. The turf based ground looked beautiful, brimming with enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The day unfolded with bright sunshine, a gentle breeze and an enthusiastic buzz in the air.

The event kick started with a scintillating March-in by our little people, releasing of balloons along with the declaration of meet open by our director, Ms. Nashy Chauhan. Parents could barely  contain their joy as they watched their children marching in synchrony. Children exhibited tremendous amount of enthusiasm and created nostalgic memories. They captivated the audience with breath-taking drill and human pyramid, followed by a series of events - races.

Conscious efforts were invested in choosing the races that improves gross and fine motor skills which are necessary for other movements like pulling, rolling, passing, etc. Simple yet age  appropriate props & materials like hula-hoop, tyres, cones, and balls were used to enable them to balance and coordinate, learn to utilize & strengthen their large muscles, connect brain and body, learn how to manoeuvre their bodies in the most proactive ways. The parents enthusiastically cheered on as the children took to the track to participate with their peers. They were adorned with a medal and participation certificate. The memorable day was culminated with the Parents event that filled the space with joyful screams & laughter. Last but not the least, Beating the Retreat & our School Song generated a sense of achievement. It was a day of joy and pride in everything that Joeys represents – challenge, integrity, support and celebration.

“We all learn more outside the class through the medium of sports which is like a therapy for all”.
